The 24/7 Experience!

The 24/7 Experience!

Join us for the 24/7 Experience!

Starting this Wednesday!  We will meet every Wednesday for the next seven weeks!  (Unless otherwise stated)

What do radical Jesus followers really look like?  We will meet a group of young people that were picked to travel to seven different cities and meet radical folks who live Jesus 24/7!  Can this be you?  Is it possible to be a 24/7  Jesus follower?

Don’t be late!  You are not going to want to miss a minute!

With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.   Luke 1:3-4

The life, death, and resurrection of Christ is the most documented event of ancient history. There is more evidence for Jesus Christ than there is of Plato, Aristotle, or Socrates, so to see Christ as a fable is to deny over 25,000 documents that say otherwise. So our choice is clear: either we can ignore the overwhelming witness that God left for us, or we can carefully investigate the record. God has given us all that we need to know Jesus and the power of his resurrected life.

Humility

Humility

Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation-since they will pass away like a wild flower. – James 1:9-10

There are no class systems in the Kingdom of heaven, for the gospel brings down the elite and brings up the poor. It seems that God uses those of humble means to teach those with wealth. When people think that they are too busy to get involved with the Kingdom of God, learn from the poor, for the poor have a greater freedom to serve the Lord than those encumbered with the responsibilities that wealth brings. This is the greatness of the gospel – it empowers the humble and humbles the empowered.  What a great God we serve!

Trial By Fire!

Trial By Fire!

See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another. – Isaiah 48:10-11

What if the current challenges that you face are not about you? God tells Israel that He is using even their disobedience as a way to glorify His name. People may be uncomfortable with the understanding that God uses our afflictions to test us, but there is more at stake than our understanding. We are being refined for God’s glory and not our own, and God will not give that glory to anyone else. So when you find yourself in the furnace of affliction, be strong, for God wants to use this for agendas that we are not aware of.

Tame

Tame

James 3:7-9
For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God.

Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly-mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. – 1 Corinthians 3:1-2

It is important to remember that this rebuke was written to Christians who were moving in gifts and great power, but they quickly devolved into factions within the church. It should be sobering to know that we can claim spiritual gifts but still be infants in Christ. The apostle Paul reminds us that maturity is not based upon a display of talent, but our ability to serve each other under the banner of Jesus Christ.
